After the close 11-28-2006...

Way behind in my posting, but nothing dramatic has occurred. I did get an alert on FOSL and placed a paper trade after it reached my entry target. Monday had zero stocks fitting my requirements, but Tuesday was a different story. Tons of good stocks on sale.

I'm watching ACGL, WTW, AEOS, ANGN, ALL, PNK, PENN, ETN, MSFT, and FRK. Basically all these stocks are showing good growth, good fundi's, some sport nice divys, and most have nice charts. I'll attempt to go through the list today and provide my entry and target points.

Happy Trading,

After the close 11-20-2006...

A couple stocks today big-cap names, but there sure are in style right now. Kinda iffy charts, but okay.

AV: Nice debt paydown, mixed up earnings-hard to predict, choppy margins, but okay quarterly earnings. Chart is okay, nice recent action, entry of $12.10, exit at $14.50.

DELL: Looking good, good yearling revs, decreasing margins, decreasing share count, quarterly earnings fell off the cliff according to starmine. Chart is cruddy, entry is $23.50, exit is unfilled gap at $28.00.

Happy trading,

Another Trade

I must have not entered an alert for CHU, likely a memory lapse, but if I did, it would have trigger last Friday near the open. As I am still testing/playing with this method, I am going to include it, i.e. be as objective as possible.

Therefore, I would have purchased 94.70 shares at ~$10.56 at the AM www.foliofn.com window.

After the close 11-17-2006...

Couple of nice candidates for long-term positions, including a blast from the past. Sometimes the market does give second chances.

I am slightly concerned that I am missing opportunities because my institutional ownership criterion is too restrictive. I have been excluding stocks with >80% ownership, but I am not sure if that is wise. If people want a stock and institutions want to hold, then the lack of stock available, i.e. supply should help the stock rise due to the demand. I don't know. I excluded both JOSB ($29 entry) and ANSS ($46.75 entry) because of this.

Winning candidates:

DSCP: This is the blast from the past. My previous purchase is up 3% after the 2.8% pullback today. Basically nothing has changed from the last post. I still like the $32.75-$33.00 level as an entry and $39.00 as an exit. In reality, I would likely not double down as there are other trades and I do not wish to overload my portfolio with one stock.

SBUX: A big, if not mega-, cap, but still growing. The lack of divy is surprising. But everything else looks good. Entry is $36.25 with an initial target of $40.00.

BRKR: I like this one, good, up-and-coming company. Some youthful scatter/noise in the fundis, low inst. ownership, increasing revs. Beautiful chart, look for entry of $7.25 and a target of $8.50 but it certainly may go beyond that.

Additionally, my other buys have been doing okay, not spectacular, but good. Today hurt, but I'm still up some 3+%.

Until next week,

After the close 11-14-2006...

No real candidates today, although 4 look good. Too high institutional ownership, so I'll pass. Here they are just in case anyone is curious: FNM, BOBE, ROST, and UNS.

As for the purchases, so far, so good. I'll take it.

ESI Trigger...

I've been putting all my entry levels into www.scottrade.com alerts, but missed the alert on ESI on Friday. So I looked at its intraday chart and found my likely www.foliofn.com window. The alert was trigger at noon, so I would have been buying during the PM, 2pm, window.

I would have likely gotten 14.75 shares at $67.80. I'll be tracking this trade with the others.

Happy Trading (and a rundown of candidates will follow),

After the close 11-13-2006...

Just one candidate from barchart today. Looking back, the HZO, BDC, and DSCP buys have been performing well so far. A good sign.

BEC: Okay fundis, a nice div, increasing rev., margins are compressing, slightly high inst. ownership at 88%. Okay chart, very choppy, look for entry at $56.50 and an initial target of $65.00. Definitely not the best stock, but it fits fulfills most of my criteria.

After the close 11-10-2006...

A couple of candidates after the close Friday.

COGO: A young company, good fundis, no debt, okay chart. Look for an entry at $13.50 with an initial target of $19.00.

FOSL: Slightly choppy on the fundis and chart. Good total rev growth, some recent margin compression. Look for initial entry of $20.75 and target of $23.75.

EZPW:
Good fundis, nicely paid off debt over last 5 yr, increasing margins, unbelievable 5yr growth. Look for entry of $35.50 and a target of $48.50.

DSCP...

DSCP triggered an entry late yesterday afternoon, so I paper traded the stock this morning during folioFN's AM window. The position is 29.90 shares bought @ $33.45 (a rough approximation of the likely buy price).

We'll see what happens...

After the close 11-08-2006...

A couple candidates, but very difficult to read charts (and entry points). See if you can find good entry levels.

CE: Good looking fundi's, okay divy, slightly high institutional ownership. Chart hard to read, look for a entry around the 50dma and support at $18.75 with a target of $22.75 (all-time high).

CHU: Tricky foreign stock, but would provide good diversification, good fundi's, okay div, very low inst. ownership, minimial analyst coverage. Tricky, gappy chart, look for entry $10.50 with a target of $13.30, 3yr high.

HZO and BDC are looking good. The next question I must consider is whether to hold out for my original target or take some profits at pre-determined spots. I may really consider taking proftis on 1/3 or 1/2 the position at +10% in conjuction with moving the stoploss to break even. A nice 10% gain from 2 or 3 stocks a quarter would really build an account balance and would also keep from turning profits to losses (the worst feeling in the world).

After the close 11-07-2006...

Once again, barchart had plenty of candidates but removing those with light volume, negative earnings, and high institutional ownership left one, at it is one I just mentioned. A second chance?

ESI: Good growing revs, net income, eps, NO debt, declining share count, okay chart (seen a nice 3 yr run), slightly high inst. ownership (77%). Look for entry of $67.50 a place of support/resistence including the thrust low last week that caught my eye. Upside target is $71.00 although the upside:downside is not great, but a break above $71 would send the technicians buying.

After the close 11-07-2006...

At first I thought there would be lots of candidates for "falling knives" but after going over the fundamentals, volume, and institutional ownership, only one candidate survived.

ELOS: Good fundamentals, small cap (for a change), not the hottest chart but okay, some but not overwhelming institutional ownership, and a possible takeover target. $25 actually looks like a good entry, but I still would like a pullback, so $22.50 is the entry with an initial target of $32 (resistance of early 2006 gap).

Looks good,

After the close 11-03-2006...(really this time)...

For some reason, I put today's date on yesterday's post, oh well. Not too many choices from www.barchart.com today.

BEN:
Chart looks good, although this stock just follows the overall market, just with a higher beta, so it's seen a nice run-up. Slightly high market cap, but okay. Good divy, good fundamentals, okay institutional ownership, debt is falling as is share count. So, I would buy at $103 with an initial target of $115 (all-time high), with the possibility it could go higher.

So, that's all for this week. I may think about posting weekly gains/results, but will need to consider the time needed. I am pleased to see HZO printing a nice doji (possible change in trend to sideways or back up) and BDC moved higher today as well.

Have a fun, safe weekend,

After the close 11-03-2006...

Once again, nothing to post as there was only 1 stock with a "today's opinion" above my 25% threshold. And, I'll skip it as it is too thinly traded. On the other hand, HZO did drop below my ideal entry after reporting earnings. I am not entirely sure how to handle these situations (a lack of really exploiting and testing the method). The question is: Should I wait for the stock to base, or jump in now that the target is met?

I'll play a game. Both BDC and HZO have met my downside targets necessary to initiate a trade, so I'll paper trade the method. I'll set an initial investment of $1000 and track the results.

BDC: I would've bought during the AM window (see www.foliofn.com for explaination or my other blog) on Oct. 30th @ $36.22 = 27.609 shrs.

HZO: I would've bought during the AM window on Nov. 3rd @ $25.55 = 39.139 shrs.

Stop loss is set for 5%. For most stocks this allows a 15-25% move from the top since the stock was initially down to get 'downgraded', and down more before I enter, and down a little more before leaving. So stop losses are: HZO = $24.27; BDC = $34.41.

I'll track my results and see what happens.

Happy investing,
Masterjaz out

After the close 11-01-2006

It's been a couple days since I've posted, nothing really to note. Today had no stocks above my 25% criteria and the last couple of days have been slow. I have looked back at a couple of my previous picks and the results are mixed. Some have been great like HZO and DSCP (not counting today...) while others have been poor BDC.

The key to this method is to first get in at appropriate levels (currently I look at the chart, one could also just go in at the open) and, more importantly, good stop losses must be implemented. While some stocks turn right around others fall, so the key is to toss the falling stocks and hold the rising ones. I'll test this method more rigorously later.

Happy Trading,
Masterjaz
