After the close 11-17-2006...
Couple of nice candidates for long-term positions, including a blast from the past. Sometimes the market does give second chances.
I am slightly concerned that I am missing opportunities because my institutional ownership criterion is too restrictive. I have been excluding stocks with >80% ownership, but I am not sure if that is wise. If people want a stock and institutions want to hold, then the lack of stock available, i.e. supply should help the stock rise due to the demand. I don't know. I excluded both JOSB ($29 entry) and ANSS ($46.75 entry) because of this.
Winning candidates:
DSCP: This is the blast from the past. My previous purchase is up 3% after the 2.8% pullback today. Basically nothing has changed from the last post. I still like the $32.75-$33.00 level as an entry and $39.00 as an exit. In reality, I would likely not double down as there are other trades and I do not wish to overload my portfolio with one stock.
SBUX: A big, if not mega-, cap, but still growing. The lack of divy is surprising. But everything else looks good. Entry is $36.25 with an initial target of $40.00.
BRKR: I like this one, good, up-and-coming company. Some youthful scatter/noise in the fundis, low inst. ownership, increasing revs. Beautiful chart, look for entry of $7.25 and a target of $8.50 but it certainly may go beyond that.
Additionally, my other buys have been doing okay, not spectacular, but good. Today hurt, but I'm still up some 3+%.
Until next week,
